Gayane Sahakyan, a cello soloist, chamber and orchestra player, studied cello classes a Chaykovski's music school in Yerevan in Zareh Sargsyan's class. She graduated with Honors from Yerevan State Conservatory earning her Master's Degree in Cello. She also attained a post graduate degree in Chamber Orchestra. After graduation, Gayane started her career as a cellist in the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra. She worked with well-known conductors such as V. Gergiev, L. Shgnavorian, N. Arman, and G. Pahlevanian. She performed in USA at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, Pasadena Center and various concert halls in France, Germany, Austria, Greece, Canada as well as numerous cities in Russia. Gayane moved to Canada in 2005. In Canada she recorded an album Cello and Piano Duet with Pianist Ivetta Mulkumyan and was a member of the Mississauga Symphony Orchestra. In November 2008, Gayane was named a Finalist for the 2008 MARTYS - The Mississauga Arts Awards. Throughout her career, Gayane has always found time to pass on her mastery of cello to her students.
